How it is going
The numbers, what they told me, and what I am changing because of them.
September, as it stands
September's numbers refresh every day and live on the dashboard, so there is one version of them. The month closes on October 3rd.
How August went
Three numbers. The rest of the page explains them.
The 10.3 you saw on August 26th and the 6.33 here are one month counted two ways. 6.33 is the way your own framework asks for, and July is counted the same way, so the two compare. August closed on September 3rd and those numbers are now fixed.
What August told me
Six findings. July is the comparison, because July carried no company news.
Your news posts did the heavy lifting
Three announcements carried 1,427 of 2,466 views and every comment. So the number to watch is the teaching posts, not the total.
Teaching posts reached a third fewer people than in July
About 97 people in July, about 65 in August. Closing that gap is the job for September and October.
The posts also got about 40 percent shorter
Around 1,200 characters in July, around 700 in August. Same month as the drop, so it is the cheapest thing to test.
Scheduling is fine on LinkedIn and a problem on X
LinkedIn was 65 either way. X was 115 by hand against 29 scheduled. Every X post now goes up by hand.
Nobody commented in August
Sixteen teaching posts, zero comments. July got ten, all on posts that ended with a question.
The people following you are the right people
46 added, 236 now, about 8 in 10 senior. The problem is how many see the posts, not who they are.
What I am trying next
Four things. The number that settles each one was written down before it started.
Write longer posts again
Starts in October- What changes
- Back to July's length, 1,100 to 1,300 characters.
- How I will know
- Length was the problem if a typical post clears 85 views. It was not if it sits near 65.
Running now- What changes
- Every X post goes up by hand this month.
- How I will know
- X is worth keeping if a typical post clears 75 views. Near 30 and it is worth paying for or dropping.
End posts with a question
Running now- What changes
- One post a week ends with a question, and every comment gets a reply the same working day.
- How I will know
- Any comments at all beats August. Ten is the number to beat.
Label every post by topic
Done- What changes
- Every post gets a topic when it enters the queue.
- How I will know
- The real mix is in the September section above, instead of a plan.
How you compare
August's final figures.
| What I measured | You | Everyone else | Where that puts you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Did something with a post | 6.33 in 100 | Healthcare pages get 2.5 to 4.5 | Ahead |
| The same, against all business pages | 6.33 in 100 | Middle of the pack is 5.10, top quarter 8.61 | Ahead, with room |
| New followers | Up 24 in 100 | 10 to 20 is the target | Well ahead |
| X | 1.83 in 100 | 2 to 4 is normal | Behind, and unpaid |
| Email outreach | Stopped | Was replies and warm leads | Closed 30 August |
What I cannot tell you yet
Three gaps, named rather than filled with something that sounds better.
It ended on 30 August after 383 emails, no replies and no meetings. One section of your scorecard was built entirely on it and has nothing to measure from September. Stopped, not pending.
LinkedIn picked a small English health charity with about a hundred followers. You grew 24 in 100 against their 3. True, and not worth much until you name a real one.
Tracking went on September 2nd and the first tool link goes out on September 14th. The site itself still needs Cody to add one tag and give me read access, about ten minutes, and then this becomes real in next month's report.
